 And the Emmy award winner is ... KUAC / AlaskaONE!!!
KUAC TV earned one of television's top honors at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Northwest Chapter's 43rd-annual Emmy Awards June 3 in Seattle. KUAC producer / director Aaron Elterman and photographer Michael Letzring took home an Emmy Award for the promotional spot for the documentary, "The 49th Star" which tells the story of Alaska's struggle for statehood.
KUAC TV executive producer Claudia Clark attended the event. "It was a
Hollywood - style extravaganza," says Clark. "You could tell the crowd was
happy to see us win. Aaron's acceptance speech had them cheering and
laughing; all in all it was a terrific night for KUAC and Alaska One."
KUAC TV also earned an Emmy nomination nod for its four-part travel series
"Anywhere Alaska." Aaron Elterman who produced both "Anywhere Alaska" and
the winning promotional spot for "The 49th Star" was excited about his win.
"What a surprise and an honor," said Elterman. "It's good to meet your peers
and know they respect your work."
The Northwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and
Sciences (NATAS) serves television professionals in Washington, Oregon,
Idaho, Alaska and Montana.
"It's wonderful to have our staff recognized for this important work," said
Greg Petrowich, KUAC general manager and CEO. "Viewers in Alaska have been
telling us for years how much they value public television. To be recognized
among our peers now for this outstanding work is quite rewarding."
